Make a Seeker fan site

May 11, 2010

Fans are still asking if there isn’t more that can be done to help save/promote Legend of the Seeker. If you have already gone through the Checklist for things to do to save the Seeker, here are a few more ideas.

  1. Start a blog. WordPress.com and Blogger.com make this easy. I think LiveJournal does as well. Post 1-2 articles a day. They don’t have to be long. Just write reviews of the show’s episodes from both seasons. Mention your favorite fan sites. Tell people about your passion for the characters, the story lines, New Zealand. Share your dislikes. Don’t try to write about everything at once. Just pace yourself. And don’t tell yourself you’re not a writer. The only difference between those who write and those who don’t write is “don’t”.
  2. Upload fan images to sharing services like Photo Bucket, Flickr, and Image Shack. You can hotlink to Image Shack and Photo Bucket from forum posts (that allow you to embed images) and your blogs.
  3. Embed the Legend of the Seeker widget on your Website. Slam Internet recently asked me to try to get this on to more pages. You can help by including the widget on your own site (if you’re allowed to embed such things).
  4. If you know HTML you can try creating your own fansite from scratch. A lot of people just get $8.50/month accounts and install WordPress on their domains (which you can usually get for $8-10 a year).

The point is, you can be heard. You can do more. But do only what you have time, energy, and passion for.
