Legend of the Seeker fans Celebrating Mother Confessor Day 2012

May 13, 2012

If you have not yet seen the notices around the Web and on Twitter and Facebook, fans of Legend of the Seeker are celebrating Mother Confessor Day today (May 13, 2012) from 12 Noon to 3 PM Pacific Time on Twitter.

You should also check out this Facebook Mother Confessor Day Event Page.

You can learn more about how the fans are putting this Tweetathon together in this LOTS.Org Forum Post or this Confessor and Seeker Society Forum Post.

If you cannot participate in the Tweetathon directly but have a little time to schedule some Tweets, you can use HootSuite or Tweetdeck to do so. Tweetdeck now allows you to schedule Tweets directly from the Web.

This year we’re asking that fans help promote non-profit organizations that benefit mothers and families while celebrating Mother Confessor Day. It’s okay to send @bridgetregan (Bridget Regan) or @daynastunts (Dayna Porter Chiplin) (Dayna was Bridget’s stunt double) a single congratulatory Tweet but our focus this year is on raising awareness of Legend of the Seeker fan campaigns and support for mothers’ organizations.

I apologize for waiting until the last minute to write this blog post. I thought I had done it already (long story, no time to share).

Remember to support the Save Our Seeker campaign and help persuade a network to pick up production on this great show. We have more hope than ever because online services are starting to pick up production on sophisticated genre shows.

Legend of the Seeker ran for two seasons in syndicated television markets around the world. The show was cancelled because the Tribune Company went into bankruptcy and elected to purchase less expensive programming, thus depriving LOTS of 1/3 of its American TV audience. Legend of the Seeker is based on Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series of novels.

Legend of the Seeker fans trend on Twitter

April 27, 2012

Yesterday, April 26, was #savetheseeker day on Twitter as far as fans of Legend of the Seeker were concerned. They turned out in force and brought along a lot of friends and new fans to promote the campaign to bring the show back.

Laura (@sot_fan) from Save Our Seeker shared the following screen captures with everyone to show that the Tweets hit the number 3 ranking in the US and number 29 Worldwide.

Legend of the Seeker fans hit the number 3 spot on Twitter with #savetheseeker on April 26, 2012.

The next Twitter campaign being planned is for May 13, 2012 — Mother Confessor Day. You can help make it a special one by suggesting your ideas in the LOTS.org forum or at the Confessor and Seeker Society.

Hope for reviving the television series is building up as companies like Netflix and Hulu announce more original programming for their online services. Sure, we’d love to get a broadcast network to pick up the show — or even to entice a film studio into making a movie — but millions of fans just want to see the Seeker and Mother Confessor back in action, and the Internet is starting to prove itself as a real video entertainment medium.

Thanks to all the fans who turned out for to Save the Seeker yesterday. Laura is already working on new ideas. Be on the lookout for more initiatives.

And don’t forget that the April 2012 Save Our Seeker Contest is still running. You can still enter.

Legend of the Seeker starred Craig Horner and Bridget Regan. Be sure to follow them on Twitter. ABC Studios still owns the rights to the show, according to Terry Goodkind (author of the Sword of Truth novels upon which the show was based); we need to show them that we’re not going away.

Save Our Seeker Announces Fan Contest to Help Bring the Show Back

February 7, 2012

Laura from Save Our Seeker is asking all Legend of the Seeker fans to participate in and help promote a contest that runs through March 2. This contest has a really special purpose. LOTS fans will be working together to persuade the one person who has the best shot at bringing back Legend of the Seeker for a third season.

Yes, Laura has uncovered the best man to contact — the man who should feel your Seeker love, the very key individual who needs to know that you want him to bring back the Seeker!

Okay, the teasing stops here: We need to convince Ken Biller that bringing Legend of the Seeker is what he should be focusing on. Ken was the Executive Producer for Legend of the Seeker. But I’m not going to try to explain all this to you since Laura has written a very poignant plea. Here is a quote:

An industry insider has told SaveOurSeeker.com that Legend of the Seeker Executive Producer Ken Biller, more than anyone else, is the one that we need to encourage to fight to bring back the series.

We’ve never written to Mr. Biller before and he needs to understand just how hard the fandom has worked to bring the show back and how much they still want it nearly two years later.

So what do you have to do? Send Ken Biller an imaginative, creative, and persuasive post card or letter each week in February; copy your creative snail mailing electronically and submit that to the contest; and wait for an email.

Terry Goodkind has graciously contributed the grand prize (you have to read this post for all the details) for the contest but there are OTHER prizes you may win even if you don’t get the top slot.

I don’t want to just copy and paste Laura’s careful instrudtions and steal her thunder. Please read her message in full, follow the links she provides, and join the contest (all the rules are in that one post). This may be our best shot ever at bringing Legend of the Seeker back into production.

So don’t just sit there yelling and screaming “YES! YES! LET’S DO IT!” Just get started. Now.

Thank you. Good luck to all of us.

ON EDIT: One more thing. Please help promote the contest! Here are a few ideas to help you do that:

  • Share links to Laura’s post ( http://legendofseeker.livejournal.com/993899.html ) on all your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, et. al.
  • Share links to Laura’s post on any science fiction or entertainment forums or mailing lists you participate in.
  • Write a blog post about the contest like I have.
  • Ask your friends and relatives to join the contest and help promote it.
  • Create a cool graphic to promote the contest and put it on your blog or Website.
  • Create an 8×11 flyer to promote the contest and post it on bulletin boards at your schools, community centers, local science fiction book stores, gaming shops, etc.
  • Share scans of your creative flyers at the Save Our Seeker Contest Thread on the LOTS.Org forum.
  • If you have a podcast or radio show, mention the contest to your listeners.
  • Ask your local science fiction and fantasy meetup, book club, or fan group to join the contest and help promote it.

State of the Save Our Seeker Movement

January 24, 2012

Legend of the Seeker fandom is alive and well, and still working to keep this show visible in as many was as possible. Tomorrow morning (my time — or Eastern Time) fans around the world will be using Twitter to wish #craighorner a happy birthday from 12 PM to 2 PM Eastern Time.

If you cannot join in the Tweetathon live but have Tweetdeck or can download it to your computer, you can use that to schedule Tweets (a max of 1 per minute). So while it will be great if you can schedule 120 Tweets, you may want to space them out if you don’t have that many Tweets to schedule. Try not to be repetitive. You can check this thread (LOTS.org forum) or this discussion (Confessor & Seeker Society) for more information.

I’m also glad to note that the official Legend of the Seeker Facebook Page now has 400,000+ followers. Our next milestone will be 500,000 followers and we’re hoping to cross that line by this summer. You can help spread the word about the page to your friends and visitors to your blogs/Websites.

And though I have not seen much discussion about it, according to the Confessor and Seeker Society Bridget Regan has a birthday coming up. I checked around and I think that will be February 3 (I should know, I should know). Look for more information on the fan forums.

Jessica Marais (who played the Mord Sith Denna) celebrates her birthday on January 29.

In other news, according to this post on the LOTS.org forum, Disney in Russia is now showing Legend of the Seeker so we can expect to be joined by new fans from Russia.

And do you remember MOTHER CONFESSOR DAY? We will be observing that again this year (if *I* have anything to say about that). In the United Kingdom Mother Confessor Day is March 18. In the United States Mother Confessor Day is May 13. Watch the fan forums for discussion of which day we’ll be celebrating, and how. Maybe this year both days will be marked.

And in case you’re wondering if fans are still writing to networks, asking them to pick up the third season of the series, the answer is YES. Just this week sot_fan published another Journey Book campaign announcement.

We have some really dedicated fans, and they are taking inspiration from other shows that have been revived. It’s not too late to Save the Seeker. Just keep on keepin’ on, and introduce your friends to the show through Netflix and Hulu.

Let’s go, fans! Save Our Seeker! Give Terry Goodkind some good news to share with his Sword of Truth readers.

Be sure to follow the @seekerfans Twitter account.

Legend of the Seeker fans to Celebrate Craig Horner’s birthday on Jan 24, 2012

December 28, 2011

Legend of the Seeker TV star Craig Horner has been keeping a low profile this year but his fans are still working to bring him back as the hero of the Terry Goodkind-inspired TV show. On January 24 Craig Horner and Legend of the Seeker fans around the world will be Tweeting #craighorner from 12 PM to 2 PM Eastern Time (New York/Washington, D.C./Miami).

You can get regular (or irregular, depending on my schedule) updates for what is happening with LOTS fandom by following the SeekerFans Twitter account (@seekerfans).

Or check out the updates posted at The Confessor and Seeker Society forum, the Legend of the Seeker Fan Forum, or the Save Our Seeker site.

As you can see, Seeker fandom hasn’t given up. We’re not going away. We’ll continue to show our support for a great TV show and we’ll continue to let the networks can studios know that 2,000,000+ American fans and millions of others around the world are ready and waiting to pick up with Season 3.

The show wasn’t cancelled because of bad ratings: it was cancelled because the Tribune Company went into bankruptcy and pulled 1/3 of the Seeker’s American TV stations out of the distribution channel. The studio was unable to find another network to pick up the show before the cast and crew had to be released from their contracts.

Shows can come back. It’s not over until the fans say it’s over.

Terry Goodkind would still love to see this show continue, or maybe get some movies made. We can support him and see our franchise grow. Legend of the Seeker is based on Goodkind’s Sword of Truth novels.

You can currently watch the first season at both Netflix and Hulu. Hulu was offering both seasons the last time I checked.
