News coverage of Seeker fan campaign increasing

May 6, 2010

I think halfbubble and Extremis (and undoubtedly others) are reaching out to the news media and bloggers to ask them to cover the Save Seeker campaign. As you can see from our Blogs and News about Save The Seeker page, at least one story has appeared every day this week.

Mike Ausiello linked to Save Our Seeker and a Live Journal blog but he still seems a little high-handed. Nonetheless, he wrote: “I will [write about the fan campaign] on one condition: You make at least a $50 donation to help the forgotten victims of the Gulf Coast catastrophe by clicking here. Every time I see a photo of a bird drenched in an oil slick, I die a little inside.”

Of course, as many Seeker fans on Twitter know, Bridget Regan is very concerned about the Gulf oil spill too. A $50 donation may be asking a lot of many fans but if you can make a donation, please do so in her name (make it a Mother Confessor Day donation). And then let ausielloscoop -at- ew -dot – com know about your donation in the name of the Mother Confessor.

Maybe that will help EW come ’round to a more reasonable attitude toward the fans’ love of the show.

ABC Studios and Disney, are you listening?

False reports of Seeker cancellation coming from KTLA

May 3, 2010

If you see any message, article, or other content that replicates the following message, IGNORE IT. This comes from an erroneous statement published by KTLA on their Website last week — most likely based on the Mike Ausiello report in Entertainment Weekly.

TLA does not produce the show so we have no control over whether it gets renewed or cancelled.

Disney-ABC announced on Monday 4/26 that they will no longer produce the show so there will be no third season.

They appear to be reacting to fan requests to keep the show. Although you should NOT abuse them, it would be okay if fans POLITELY inform them that their information is not reliable and to request that they change or remove the erroneous statement from their Website.

Even if ABC releases an announcement about the cancellation of the show, KTLA’s Website is not stating a fact.

Other Websites have also been picking up the Ausiello article (crediting it) as an “official” declaration by ABC that Legend of the Seeker has been cancelled. This kind of sloppy journalism is probably to be expected (the news media make mistakes just like everyone else) but these sites should be willing to print corrections (if they want to retain their credibility as reliable sources of information).

ABC Studios and Disney, there are people speaking on your behalf. Are you listening? Isn’t it time to end the rumors and just make a commitment to producing a third season?

Sorry EW – Your rumor-mongering is cheap flame-bait

April 30, 2010

The Hollywood Insider at EW is trying to taunt the Legend of the Seeker community by calling us a “small” and “rabid” fanbase.

Ignore them. This is a cheap baiting tactic that many Websites use to draw people in to boost their advertising revenues.

Look, until there is an “OFFICIAL” announcement, all the taunting and speculative posts from idiotic writers trying to make a living DO NOT deserve your attention and passion.

Even if ABC Studios issues a press release saying that “Legend of the Seeker” is done, you can still ask for a movie or a mini-series.
